Nickolas Asset Management (“NAM”), an operator-led investment firm with deep experience in industrial manufacturing and the plastics sector, has completed the acquisition of a 120,000-square-foot plastic resin processing and materials facility from Material Difference Technologies (“MDT”), a Florida-based supplier and processor of plastic resins serving diverse industrial and consumer manufacturing markets.
The acquired facility is dedicated to the recycling and reprocessing of post-consumer and post-industrial plastic scrap into reusable resin pellets, thereby diverting tens of millions of pounds of plastic from landfills annually. It combines distribution with formulating, blending, and compounding capabilities, and includes technical development, quality assurance, and in-house analytical laboratory services that support NAM’s vertically integrated manufacturing platform and contractual compliance with third-party certifications, including the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) PCR Certification Program.
This transaction reinforces NAM’s strategic objective of strengthening control over plastic material supply, quality standards, cost structures, and supply chain reliability in its manufacturing businesses. By bringing plastic materials processing closer to finished product manufacturing, NAM seeks to improve operational consistency, responsiveness to contractual obligations, and long-term competitiveness under evolving regulatory and sustainability frameworks.
Under the terms of the acquisition, the continuing operational leadership of the facility will be maintained by the former owner, who will remain as Operating Partner and Chief Operating Officer of the division to ensure continuity of customer relationships and technical expertise.
NAM operates as an active, operator-led partner and maintains a national footprint of eight manufacturing facilities totaling approximately 2.5 million square feet of production space across the United States.
