Polyamide Powders Used in Coatings, Personal Care, Composites and 3D Printing
Arkema has begun a new production line for ultra-high performance polyamide 12 powders at the Mont plant in France, according to a company press release. This increases the group’s global capacity by over 50% for industrial applications, in particular in the coatings, personal care, composites, and 3D printing markets.
This investment of some €20 million in specialty polyamide powders aims toward accelerating the group’s development in advanced materials.
Arkema’s specialty polyamide 12 powders are marketed under the brand name Orgasol®.
The press release notes the powders have exceptionally narrow particle size distribution, and outstanding toughness. The press release also points out the powders’ stability and recyclability, and fast-growing use in the 3D printing market. These powders are used in high performance formulations for the coatings and personal care markets, as well as in advanced composite materials for the aerospace market.
